Overview
Genuine capital stock Wiltshire sale.
14 Years of breeding with Wiltshire genetics.
Shire genetics were used from Autumn 2020 across flock.
These sheep are run on extensive pastoral country at altitude of between 400 to 600 meters above sea level on hills above Dunback. Ewes are not shepherded at lambing, they totally do it by themselves.
Only lambs are drenched and ewe hoggets pre lambing. Once lambed, hoggets are not drenched again for duration of their life. Ewes are not drenched for duration of their life. No hoggets or ewes are vaccinated clostridially or for abortion, these are totally unvaccinated.
The only minerals given; Ewes and ewe lambs receive 1ml of Long-Acting Selenium injection once a year. Salt blocks are provided during the year. All Lambs receive .08 / ml Smartshot B12 at tailing.
Ewes lamb unshepherded and tail consistently between 135% to 160% on a (ewes to ram basis). The fluctuation is dependent on how dry conditions are pre mating each year.
Hoggets have been mated for the past 3 years. Lambing approximately 5th October start.
- 2023 mating (1 cycle and 8 days) 61 % in lamb
- 2022 mating (2 cycles) 82 % in lamb
Selected Ram Lambs from within the flock have been kept and used across the ewe hoggets
since 2021.
